Chief Master Sergeant Joshua M. Smith

Chief Master Sergeant Joshua M. Smith is the Senior Enlisted Leader, 5th Combat Weather Group, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He serves as the senior enlisted leader within the group and works in concert with other enlisted leaders to oversee the readiness, training, health, morale, welfare and quality of life of two combat weather squadrons comprised of 503 Airmen across 17 locations throughout the United States.  The 3d Combat Weather Squadron and 18th Combat Weather Squadron provide mission-tailored environmental intelligence to 2 Corps, 8 Divisions, and 37 Brigades to assist in planning, coordination, and execution of US Army and Joint/Combined air and ground operations.  Furthermore, CMSgt Smith is responsible for the wartime readiness and deployment of 5th Combat Weather Group assigned weather forces and $14.3M in capabilities to meet global combatant command requirements.
 
Chief Smith enlisted in the Air Force in June 2001 and has held various leadership roles in the weather career field supporting diverse mission areas while serving in Combined, Joint, Air Force and Army commands. His combat deployments include participation in Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, FREEDOM SENTINEL and INHERENT RESOLVE.  Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader, 18th Combat Weather Squadron, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
