End of an era at Pope

The final C-130E from Pope Air Force Base, N.C. taxis out June 27 for its final flight as part of the 43rd Airlift Wing. The mission ended at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., who will now take control of the plane, and was led by Col. Michael Thornton, 43rd Operations Group Commander. Officers and enlisted leaders in the 43d Air Mobility Operations Group recently came together for a weekend of leadership and professional development which included visits to an aircraft manufacturing facility, and to the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, which straddles the Georgia and Tennessee borders. Attendees got a firsthand look at aircraft assembly and learned more about military history while building camaraderie with fellow leaders in the group. (Courtesy photo)
