Below is the information encompassing Pope Air Force Base's 2009 Environmental Policy:

1. Pope is committed to conducting its mission in an environmentally sound manner that is protective of human health and the environment. To support this commitment, we will continue to develop and implement our base-wide Environmental Management System which provides a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets. In support of this environmental policy, all personnel will:

a. Promote the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources and manmade materials;

b. Comply with legal and other requirements (e.g. executive orders, AF directives and policies) applicable to the conduct of Pope's mission;

c. Strive to continually improve the base's environmental performance;

d. Integrate sound pollution prevention practices into daily decisions and activities to include recycling/reuse of materials and striving to reduce pollution at the source of generation; and

e. Work in partnership with all stakeholders to promote and integrate environmental awareness into all levels of the organization.

2. Conformance with this environmental policy is the responsibility of all members of the Pope community in accordance with their roles and responsibilities. If you have any questions, please contact Public Affairs, at (910) 394-4183.
