Pope Field

Pope Army Airfield is part of the Fort Bragg garrison — home to roughly one tenth of America's Army. The garrison provides many services to Pope Airmen, many which meet or exceed services typically offered at  Air Force bases. This is good news, because Pope has built a great relationship with Fort Bragg over the years and our partnership benefits everyone on our joint team.

The 43d Air Mobility Operations Group (AMOG) is willing, able and ready to fulfill our mission at Pope:

  • 24/7 operational mission execution
  • Persistent Joint Airborne/Air Transportability Training
  • Pope Airmen support
  • Global Response Force readiness

The AMOG is responsible for rapid strategic deployment of forces assigned to Joint Special Operations Command and the U.S. Army’s XVIII Airborne Corps and 82nd Airborne Division. The group provides combatant commanders with Airborne Joint Forcible Entry, combat airlift, aeromedical evacuation, aerial port, command and control, and other enabling capabilities. The AMOG consists of:

43d Air Base Squadron (ABS): Handles everything from issuing ID Cards, making sure computers, phones, and internet work, and assuring vehicles are available when needed.

43d Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron (AES): Nurses in the sky! AES assures patients are moved rapidly using airlift, giving medical attention while flying, and coordinating when and where air evacuations occur.

43d Air Mobility Squadron (AMS): Provides maintenance to all aircraft flying into Pope Field, loads passengers and cargo, and inspects hazardous materials being loaded on aircraft.

43d Comptroller Squadron (CPTS): Handles all financial aspects of Pope Field.

43d Medical Squadron (MDS): Doctors, nurses, therapists – MDS handles all Pope Airmen’s medical needs including dental, mental health, optometry, and more.

43d Operations Support Squadron (OSS): Manages all operations on the flight line. OSS oversees when aircraft will arrive and depart Pope, rigging cargo to be dropped by aircraft, and training pilots.
