SMSgt. Nicholas M. Rohling

SMSgt Nicholas M. Rohling is the Maintenance Superintendent and Interim Squadron Superintendent for the 43rd Air Mobility Squadron, 43rd Air Mobility Operations Group, Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina.  He leads 298 Airman and 4 civilian personnel providing the squadron’s out-load support for the nation’s premier XVIII Airborne Corps, 82d Airborne Division, and their Immediate Response Force mission within the Joint Special Operations Command community, which encompasses 30 percent of all Joint Airborne/Air Transportability Training missions flown by AMC/Reserve forces in support of the US Army.  Additionally, Sergeant Rohling prepares the squadron to meet short-notice, humanitarian, and worldwide mobility tasking’s to secure national objectives and serves as the principal advisor to the commander on technical matters concerning maintenance operations, manpower, morale, health, welfare, quality force and recognition for assigned personnel.  
 
Sergeant Rohling grew up in the Chicago metropolitan area and joined the Air Force in July 1999, shortly after graduating high school.  He completed H-53 Helicopter Crew Chief technical training at Fort Eustis, Virginia, in February 2000.  Throughout his career he has maintained MH-53M/J, Mi-17, and CV-22B aircraft.  He has deployed to Afghanistan, Djibouti, Iraq, and other locations in support of numerous Air Force Special Operations Command and Combined Joint Special Operations Air Component operations. 
 
Prior to assuming his current position, Sergeant Rohling served as the Assistant Superintendent, 8th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, 801st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 1st Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, Florida.
