Lt. Col. Metodi V. Roulev

Lieutenant Colonel Metodi V. Roulev is the Commander, 43d Air Mobility Squadron, Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina. He leads over 330 Airmen at Air Mobility Command’s only enroute in the continental United States. The 43d Air Mobility Squadron provides Command and Control, Aircraft Maintenance and Aerial Port services for all Air Mobility Command assigned aircraft supporting the 18th Airborne Corps, 18th Airborne Division, and Joint Special Operations Command. He ensures the unit’s readiness to launch the Immediate Response Force and meet nearly two hundred Air Expeditionary Force taskings.

Lt Col Roulev, a native of Velingrad, Bulgaria, was commissioned in the Air Force in 2002 after graduating from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He earned his intelligence officer badge in 2003 and subsequently cross-trained into aviation, earning his pilot wings in 2008. He has been an Instructor Pilot and Flight Examiner in multiple C-130H variants, and is now an Aircraft Commander in the C-130J. Lt Col Roulev has served in a variety of positions at the squadron, group, wing and major command levels. Lt Col Roulev has served multiple tours in Southwest Asia and Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, Enduring Freedom and Octave Shield. Prior to assuming his current position, Lt Col Roulev served as the Chief of Safety for the 43d Air Mobility Operations Group, Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina.

Lieutenant Colonel Roulev is a C-130J Aircraft Commander with over 2,500 hours in the T-37A/B, T-44A, C-130E/H and C-130J aircraft. He has flown 840 combat hours in support of Operations Joint Forge, Joint Guardian, Joint Enterprise, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn and Octave Shield.
