On the warm evening of Sept. 16, Team Pope enthusiastically celebrated the U.S. Air Force's 75th Birthday in the best way they knew how – with an Air Force Ball. Alongside their family and fellow community members, Pope Airmen enjoyed an evening of festivities to commemorate the Air Force’s accomplishments over the years and to toast to the years yet to come.

The guest speaker for the event was General (Retired) Darren McDew, accompanied by his wife, Evelyn McDew; he was the 43 AW commander from 2005-2006, and he most recently served as the commander of U.S. Transportation Command prior to retiring in 2018.

The ball was hosted at the Iron Mike Conference Center on Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty), and was organized by the 43d Comptroller Squadron. The Pope Army Airfield Honor Guard presented the colors while Ms. Elenah Kelly gave a beautiful rendition of the national anthem, and an honor guardsmen from East Carolina University's AFROTC Detachment 600 presented the POW/MIA table. Capt. James Harris and Master Sgt. Clinton Riley emceed the event, and it was a night to remember!
