Senior Master Sgt. James Hoover

Who we are:

We are a newly activated squadron deliberately situated on an Army installation and providing support to five MAJCOMs as the central focal point for communications and information management services.

What we do:

We provide NIPR/SIPR, COMSEC, and IT equipment to include mobile devices. We manage Pope Army Airfield's Freedom of Information Act, SharePoint, Privacy Act, Records Management and Publications/Forms programs. We also maintain a data center for the multiple mission sets of Airmen located on Pope AAF and our Joint Mission Partners on Fort Liberty.

Who we support:

We support the 43rd AMOG, the tenant units on Pope AAF, and Air Force units within the SOF community on Fort Liberty. We are also the A6 when TF-Gryphon activates.

How we tie into the greater mission:

Without communications, planning and execution of any mission on Pope AAF, the activation of TF-Gryphon, and daily integration with the Army and other partners would be impossible.

Our key accomplishments:

The 43rd Communications Squadron officially stood up as its own unit on July 8, 2022, after previously being situated as a Communications Flight within the 43d Air Base Squadron (now deactivated).

We have increased our capacity for NIPR file-share by 30%.

Our building is undergoing a large-scale renovation and furniture refresh that will better optimize our work spaces and improve the offices for our Airmen.

When TF-Gryphon stood up earlier this year, our personnel provided full A6 and 24/7 Information Technology support.
