18th Air Support Operations Group

14th Air Support Operations Squadron
The 14 ASOS integrates air power into the US Army 82d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC, scheme of ground maneuver. They maintain an alert commitment to deploy on extremely short notice for contingency operations. The squadron performs night/day parachute and helicopter assaults with division, brigade, and battalion commanders to provide on-scene air planning expertise. The squadron controls employment of combat aircraft flown by all services in support of over 15,000 troops.


The 18 WS provides weather support to the Army's XVIII Airborne Corps, 18th Aviation Brigade, 82d Airborne Division, 82d Combat Aviation Brigade, and their units in garrison and in a tactical field environment. The squadron trains and maintains readiness to deploy worldwide to support aviation and ground combat operations. They manage four geographically separated subordinate units. The Commander, 18 WS, as Staff Weather Officer to XVIII Airborne Corps, controls all meteorological and oceanographic assets of the Corps and subordinate units (during wartime). The 18 WS commander also oversees support to the Military District of Washington, the US Army Transportation Center, US Army Armor School, and the US Army Aviation Center.
