Members of the 43rd Security Forces Squadron carry a ?wounded? aircrew member out of harms way during a hijacking exercise July 25. In the exercise, the aircrew was held hostage while the 43rd SFS worked to negotiate with their captives. As part of the exercise, the hijackers were also able to ?detonate? an explosive that took out the air traffic control tower and the fire department. This led to the base integrating its resources with local Fayetteville and Fort Bragg authorities to get the base up and running again. The exercise helps the base prepare for any number of possible real-world scenarios. (U.S. Air Force photo/Dave Davenport)
