POPE ARMY AIRFIELD, N.C. — A C-130J Hercules from the 19th Airlift Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., launches with a load of 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers here Feb. 9, 2018, during a joint Large Package Week and Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise held Feb. 5-11. Airmen in the 43d Air Mobility Operations Group at Pope provided ground support for visiting Air Force aircrews airlifting Soldiers and equipment out of Pope Field during the exercise. Throughout the week, Air Mobility Command crews carried out 173 missions, transporting more than 3,000 paratroopers and 2.8 million pounds of heavy vehicles, container delivery systems and other cargo. Airmen in the 43d AMOG here serve as the linchpin for America’s Global Response Force, connecting AMC airlift and Brigade Combat Teams of the 82nd ABN DIV, and providing operations, maintenance, Aerial Port, fuels, ground equipment and other support.
