Col. Craig Berlette, 43rd Airlift Wing Vice Commander, presented the Commander's Coin on behalf of Col. James Johnson, 43rd AW Commander, to Capt. Archie R. Phlegar, 43rd Medical Group, June 1, for his exceptional performance beyond the call of duty.

Captain Phlegar serves two jobs in the 43rd MDG. He is Group's executive officer and 43rd Medical Support Squadron Medical Information Services flight commander. As executive officer, he coordinates awards, decorations, reports and taskings for the Medical Group through the 43rd AW and Air Mobility Command. As the flight commander, he oversees all aspects of clinical technology including planning, development, maintenance, user training and security operations.

Captain Phlegar's job performance can be highlighted in several occasions. He monitored the 43rd MDG's information protection program, maintaining 100 percent accountability and currency. Captain Phlegar also managed more than $10 million worth of medical equipment and sustained 100 percent data accuracy. He oversaw the 43rd MDG tracking log and guided the senior staff through 43rd AW and AMC taskings, which contributed to the group's timeliness rate of 98 percent. Captain Phlegar also led the 43rd MDG leadership through annual award package submittals, which won two Wing, eight AMC, and one Air Force level awards.

Off duty, Captain Phlegar is community focused. He is involved in church activities, served meals at a local homeless shelter, worked with the humane society and regularly volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.

Captain Phlegar gives back to Team Pope and volunteered, participated and coordinated Difference Maker's Golf Tournament. He was also the group representative for the Combined Federal Campaign.
