Construction on Pope's 43rd Mission Support Group parking lot is scheduled from June 14 through November. The construction contractor will demolish the existing asphalt, restructure the parking layout, create a fire lane and appropriate standoff distance from the buildings, and install two outdoor gathering areas. The intent is to establish a more efficient traffic flow and parking plan and comply with anti-terrorism and force protection mandates.

Affected buildings and squadrons include: 306-Mission Support Group Headquarters; 308-Force Support Squadron, Base Education and Military Personnel Flight; 347-Communications Squadron and Post Office; 356-Communications Squadron; 357-Thrift Store; 300-Medical Logistics, and 302-Medical Material Services.

Construction will occur in two phases over the six-month time frame. The first phase begins with construction on the east portion of the parking lot, and is estimated to occur over a three month period. The second phase of the project will conclude in the remaining three months.

Vehicle access will be closed to portions of the parking lot under construction as illustrated. Signs and barriers will detour traffic when construction commences. Distinguished Visitor parking will be modified accordingly. Personnel are asked to use the base theater parking lot in the interim.
