For those who have not had a Permanent Change of Station in the last year, preparing for an upcoming move might be quite a new experience. The better the understanding of new Air Force processes, the more prepared Airmen will be. Below are some recent changes and tips to help Pope Airmen and their family during this transition.

1. New AFPC guidelines state orders cannot be produced until 90 days prior to your report no later than date. Requests for an exception to policy can be made due to TDY en route or hardship. Work directly with the assignment counselor on these requests.

2. PCS orders and out processing checklists are now uploaded electronically through virtual Military Personnel Flight. Log into the Air Force Personnel Center secure website, click on vMPF, click on Out Processing and find the links. Assignment counselors will send the required information via e-mail on how to access the necessary documents.

3. Before each PCS, Air Force fitness tests must be current. If the Air Force fitness test expires before the report no later than date, a test must be conducted prior to PCSing.

4. The Airmen and Family Readiness Center holds a "Smooth Move" briefing designed to help with a stress free move. Briefings on entitlements, the Transportation Management Office, and helpful hints associated with relocating are provided. Families are encouraged to attend.

5. To gather additional information on any new location, check out the following Web sites Armed Forces Crossroads at www.afcrossroads.com or Military Home Front at www.militaryhomefront.com.

There are a various resources available to members and their families at the Airmen and Family Readiness Center. All members and their families are invited to stop by for assistance with any relocation questions and needs. They can be reached by calling 394-2538.
