BB&T Rail Trail Run/Walk
Join Dunn and Irwin County residents, April 17 for the BB&T Rail Trail Run/Walk for CareNet. The certified 5K course runs through the countryside along the Black River and into downtown Erwin. Awards are presented after the run. Food and drinks are also available. All proceeds are used to support counseling services provided by CareNet of Harnett. 2010 Endurance Relay and Strong Man Competition
Airmen, Soldiers, families and friends are invited to sign up and participate in the 2010 Endurance Run and Strong Man Competition April 29 through 30 at the Fitness Center. The run, hosted by Pope's Company Grade Officers' Club, is scheduled to include a 12- and 24-hour relay, a strongman competition and a wide variety of family activities to raise money and benefit the Air Force Assistance Fund. Fayetteville State University ROTC 5 K
The Fayetteville State University Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadet Officer Association is hosting their second annual 5K campus run April 17. The race begins and the race begins at 9:30 a.m. with an awards ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Registration is $20 before April 17 and $25 the day of the event. Mandatory DUI Briefings
On April 14 and 15, a North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper is scheduled to provide a lecture on the topic of Driving Under the Influence prevention. Presentations will be held both days at 7:30 a.m., 10a.m., and 1 p.m. at the Base Theater. Each session will last approximately 90 minutes. Attendance will be taken for 43rd Airlift Wing personnel and individual units are responsible for tracking attendance. Team Pope Tenants are welcome to attend. Dorm Cook-Out
The Pope Dorm Council is hosting a cook-out and basketball tournament for all dorm residents April 29. The events begin at 2 p.m. in the dorm courtyard. Come to enjoy the sunshine, food and friends. For more information, call Airman 1st Class Jessica Lyles at 394-7365.

Airman Leadership School Graduation
Class 10-D graduates with a banquet at the Pope Club on May 18. If you received an invitation from a student, please RSVP directly to them or by leaving a message at 394-4366. Military Youth Football Game
Military youth and their families get in free at the 2010 Kay Yow Spring Red vs White football game April 17. Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh. After the game, military families are invited onto the field to meet the players, coaches and staff. The event is hosted by the N.C. Operation Military Kids and N.C. State University Athletics. Wine Tasting
The Fayetteville Wine Society is hosting a charity wine tasting event to benefit the USO of North Carolina-Fort Bragg center from 6 until 10 p.m. at Fox Hollow Estate in Fayetteville, April 17. Golf Tournament
The 4th annual Gryphon Golf Tournament is April 16 at the Chicora County Club in Dunn. The four-person Captain's Choice format has two tee time choices of 7 a.m. or 11 a.m. The entry fee of $35 per person includes the green fee and cart, lunch, raffle ticket, goody bag for all players and a chance to win door prizes. Those whose spouse or sponsor was or will be deployed between July 1, 2009 and July 31, 2010 may be eligible for a special DePLAYment Tag that brings free or reduced price benefits for the family. For more information, call 394-1189.

AFROTC Scholarship
The Scholarship for Outstanding Airmen program allows commanders the opportunity to select outstanding active duty Airmen for an ROTC scholarship. If selected, Airmen will be discharged from active duty to pursue a commission through AFROTC. The scholarship pays for college tuition and fees, plus a textbook allowance. A monthly, non-taxable allowance is also earned during the school year. AMC has nine quotas for SOAR, with Sept. 15 being the established deadline for applications to be received at MAJCOM.
