Pope Airmen and their families are gearing up for another rousing intramural basketball championship tournament this week.

With a three-year winning record, team A from the 43rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, is the team to beat. If they win this championship, the team will be the first in history to win an Intramural Basketball Championship at Pope. Members of the 43rd LRS (A) are eager and confident for their game.

"Of course we're going to win," said Senior Airman Quentin Irvin. "We're the best, our record speaks for itself."

The challenge isn't enough to intimidate their completion. Members from 43rd Force Support Squadron have put up their fare share of the fight and are ready to knock the 43rd LRS (A) team down.

"I am interested in seeing who's going to win," said Senior Airman Christian Pagan, 43rd FSS. "LRS (A) is looking to take their fourth year, and this is FSS' first time in a championship - they look like a stronger team this year than LRS (A)."

The 43rd FSS team has an undefeated record during the championships, which began March 16. The Intramural Basketball League began Jan. 10 and will come to an end with an 11:30 a.m. game March 24 at the Pope Fitness Center. For more information, call the Pope Fitness Center at 394-2671.
