Fifteen Airmen from the 3rd Aerial Port Squadron at Pope returned from a six-month deployment to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, March 16.

Camp Bastion is the main British military base in Afghanistan and is located in a remote desert area close to the capital in the Helmand province. While deployed, the 3rd APS Airmen uploaded and downloaded cargo coming in to the base.

"Our Camp Bastion 'Port Dawgs' have done incredible work to enable combat operations in Southern Afghanistan," said Lt. Col. Frank Flores, 3rd APS, Commander. "I am so proud of them and happy to welcome them home."
