In memory of Master Sgt. Roy C. Futrell Jr. Published Aug. 2, 2009 440th Airlift Wing, Public Affairs POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- An Air Reserve Technician assigned to the 440th Airlift Wing's Aircraft Maintenance Squadron was found unconscious in his private vehicle at about 4 p.m. Sunday on Pope. The technician was identified as Master Sgt. Roy C. Futrell, Jr., a resident of Carthage, N.C. Emergency medical responders were called to the scene but their resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. Master Sgt. Futrell was transported to the Womack Army Medical Center Emergency Room on Fort Bragg where he was declared dead. A cause of death has not yet been determined. His next of kin have been notified. Air Reserve technicians are full-time employees in the Air Force Reserve
