2009 Family Fun Day general rules and scoring Published June 3, 2009 By 43rd Force Support Squadron POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Pope holds its annual Family Fun Day picnic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 18 at Woodland Park. Squadrons must register with their respective sports representatives by Wednesday. Eligibility Sports events are open to all military, DoD civilians and their dependents who are 18 years and older and assigned or attached to Pope. Participants are to represent the squadron they are attached to administratively. Registration Sports Representatives from each squadron will advertise the events throughout their entire squadron and find one volunteer (for coordination, setup and breakdown) to represent their squadron. Representatives must complete the registration sheets and submit it to the Fitness Center by 1 p.m. Wednesday. Lip Sync CD and act information must be turned into the Community Center. Participation Individuals may enter as many events as they desire. They should remember to check the overlapping time schedule when signing up for the events. Events will not be held up because competing individuals are participating in another event. Any event time is forfeit time. Names may be changed up to the time of the event. Rules The governing rules will be upheld by event managers. Changes, interpretations and or appeals shall be made to the Sports Director. Appeals must be made immediately or the rights to appeal will be forfeited. Events Events will be single elimination with a consultation game for third place. Scoring for Team Events: - First place is 10 points - Second place is six points - Third place is two points Participation points Two points will be given to the squadron when registration sheets are turned in on time along with listed volunteers. An additional five points will be given for participation in each event. Failure to show Each individual registered for an event who does not show will cause one point to be deducted from the squadron's total points. This includes one point per person for individual events. Squadron responsibilities Appoint one individual from each squadron as "Squadron Fun and Fitness Day Coordinator." Coordinator The coordinator is the individual to whom all questions from their squadron will be directed. He will bring the questions to the attention of the fitness center. This individual will receive a packet pertaining to the Sports Day, pass information on to the squadron, collect all participant packets and turn them in to the Fitness Center. The coordinator must ensure all individuals are aware of event times and rules. The coordinator will select one individual as team captain for each event. The coordinator will also help set up and breakdown before and after the events. The coordinator may not participate in events. Team captain The team captain will ensure participants are aware of the correct time and place for each event. The team captain may participate in events. Note Remember that squadrons must compete in the Lip Sync Contest to be eligible for the grand prize. Anything other than G-rated acts for the Lip Sync Contest will cause the squadron to be forfeited from all events. Sports Day events: - Two-mile four man relay (four people per team/unlimited teams) - Sand volleyball (two team maximum/five people maximum) - Three on three basketball (two team maximum/five people maximum) - One pitch softball (two team maximum and one female must compete at all times/minimum of eight people to start) - Tug of war (two team maximum of eight people/one female minimum required) - Lip Sync Contest (Squadrons must compete in this contest to be eligible for the grand prize, and the act must be G-rated only.
