Wingman of the Week Published Feb. 3, 2009 By Emily Farrington-Smith 43rd Airlift Wing Public Affairs POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Senior Airman Michael Ferguson 43rd Comptroller Squadron Job description: Finance Customer Service Technician Date entered military: July 18, 2006 Reason entered military: To support my wife and two kids Who has been the most influential person in your career? My dad, who just retired from the military after serving for 26 years. Short term goals: To test high for staff sergeant on my first try this coming cycle. Long term goals: To retire as a chief master sergeant What do you think is the best thing about Pope, and why? Because the base is downsizing, the personnel here have come closer together to help one another out without any questions asked. If you could change one thing about Pope, what would it be, and why? To bring back the A-10. They made me realize that we truly have an impact on the global war on terrorism. It can become mundane doing the same work every day, but when I hear the A-10 engine fire, it makes me think about what else is going on in the world.
