One of the Airmen killed in the B-52 crash in Guam July 21 was previously assigned here for more than four years as a C-130 navigator and the chief of tactics at the 41st Airlift Squadron.

Capt. Michael Dodson, 31, was the co-pilot on the aircraft that crashed off Guam's northwest coast.

The plane and five of the six crew members were from Barksdale Air Force Base, La. The sixth crew member was from Andersen AFB, Guam.

In addition to Captain Dodson, the Barksdale Airmen were Maj. Christopher Cooper, 33,
aircraft commander; Maj. Brent Williams, 37, navigator; 1st Lt. Joshua Shepherd, 26, navigator; and 1st Lt. Robert Gerren, 32, electronic warfare officer.

The Andersen Airman was Col. George Martin, flight surgeon and deputy commander of 36th Medical Group.

The Barksdale Airmen were deployed to Guam with the 20th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron as part of DOD's continuous bomber presence mission in the Pacific.

"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families of these Airmen," said Col. Robert Wheeler, 2nd Bomb Wing commander. "We appreciate the military and civilian organizations who are continuing recovery efforts to bring our Airmen home."

A board of officers is investigating the accident.
