Master Sgt. Michael Gardner, 43rd Airlift Wing, won the Air Mobility Command Gerrald Cullins Award for Outstanding AMC chaplain assistant senior noncommissioned officer of the Year based on his leadership and job performance, significant self-improvement and for his base and community involvement.

"Sergeant Gardner is an outstanding future senior leader," said Chaplain (Maj.) Kenneth Reyes, 43rd AW. "I see him becoming a chief one day because he thinks strategically. He knows all the chapel's processes. He is a very caring individual and is highly motivated."

Sergeant Gardner joined the Air Force for the benefits and the travel opportunities. He said his next goal is to complete his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.

"I am humbly honored by the recognition of this award, and my hope is to continue to strive as I support the Air Force mission and the Air Force Chaplain's Service."
