Forty-eight year old Michael Campbell, 43rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, has been running "for a while" and wanted to do something charitable for the Air Force Assistance Fund. But the marathon runner knew he could run more miles individually than by being a part of a relay team.

On a high week, Mr. Campbell runs upward of 55 miles, and only a "paltry" 30 miles on the low weeks.

"It just depends on how I feel," he said.

Mr. Campbell decided to be a one-man team and run for 24 hours. He received pledges that totaled $65 per mile, in addition to people offering up $10 here or $20 there. So far, he's collected more than $1,800, with several donations still coming in.

Mr. Campbell clocked in 41 miles, but stopped only because chafing on his legs was causing significant pain and bleeding.

"I still had seven hours to go," he said. "I wanted to keep going."

If you haven't turned in your money to Mr. Campbell, he's been on the prowl this week hunting you down, so have your wallet ready for him!
