2006 Angel Tree Kicks Off Nov. 19 Published Dec. 7, 2006 By Kelly Twedell Staff writer POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Christmas is the time for giving. Don't miss out on your opportunity to select an angel from this year's tree and to start your holiday shopping early. The Angel tree will be available on Sunday, Nov. 19. It will be located in the foyer of the chapel. All Pope first sergeants will be briefed on Nov. 9 and will submit their 'angel' information back to the chapel on Nov. 15. Each child's name submitted will have two tags on the tree; one will be a requested clothing item, and the other a requested toy that is age appropriate. The discreetly selected families for this service project will meet specified criteria that will be put out in the initial meeting. If you do not have the chance to stop by the chapel or attend services off base, you will also have a chance to participate as the angel tags will be hung on the tree at the Wing staff agency's holiday party. All gifts should be wrapped and returned to the Angel Tree by Dec. 18 and will be delivered to the units on Dec. 20. The Angel Tree at Pope works in conjunction with Operation Toy Drop, where any extra gifts left will be supplemented for the base. For more information about the Angel Tree, contact Chaplain (Capt.) Joshua Kim at 394-2677.
