Web-savvy Airmen can give career more direction Published Dec. 7, 2006 By Career Assistance Advisor POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Airmen at Pope have a very powerful tool to aid them in giving their Air Force career direction. That tool is Pope's Career Assistance Advisor and First Term Airmen Center's Web page, and it is only a mouse click away. Master Sgt. Michael Reeves, Pope's Career Assistance Advisor, has teamed with Tech. Sgt. Tara Alton, NCOIC of FTAC, to build a joint Web page in the community of practice of the Air Force's knowledge now web structure. The new Web site gives enlisted Airmen the tools and information needed to give direction in their Air Force career. The Web site is filled with direct Web links to various Air Force web sites. The links are categorized into groups such as: Professional Military Education, Special Duty Opportunities, Retraining Opportunities, and Opportunities after the Air Force. Inside these groups are the direct links to other sites such as the Military Training Instructor, USAF Honor Guard, Enlisted Aide and Career Enlisted Aviators, just to name a few. With the direct links, Airmen are able to get factual information directly from the source without hearing or reading it second-hand. Supervisors really enjoy the Supervisor's Toolbox. Inside they find both junior and senior EPR forms with the corresponding feedback forms. The Air Force Benefits Fact Sheet is also there to go along with the feedbacks. There are calculators to determine when an Airman is in their career job reservation window and what their PT score is. Easy to read supervisor's notes and booklets on a variety of subjects that every good supervisor should know fill the supervisor's toolbox. Along with those documents are links to support and referral agencies including: Tricare, Thrift Savings Plan and the Air Force Aid Society. The FTAC folder is filled with information for the supervisors of Airmen who are attending FTAC. Schedules, lesson plans and FTAC orientation worksheets that can be viewed. The main intention is to inform and promote involvement from supervisors while their Airmen are away from their work centers attending FTAC. Most importantly, the CAA/FTAC site is very user friendly and straight-forward. All the information is conveniently placed in folders and is easy to find and access. Additionally, every document is available to download and be shared be everyone. The CAA/FTAC Web site can be easily accessed through Pope's Web page several different ways. The drop down navigation bar can be used, or simply click on the wing information button and look for the career advisor button. Another option is to go through the Mission Support Group link and choose the Mission Support Squadron link. Once at the 43rd MSS page, there are four different links to choose from. Click on either the Career Advisor or FTAC links at the top of the page, or choose from the 43rd MSS/CAA or FTAC links. The final option is to type in the CAA/FTAC Web address of https://afkm.wpafb.af.mil/ASPs/CoP/OpenCoP.asp?Filter=OO-ED-AM-38. For more information, call Master Sgt.
