Pope IDEA and PECI move to Smart Ops office Published Oct. 19, 2006 POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The Innovation Development through Employee Awareness Program has joined the Smart Ops Team, lead by Lt. Col. Michael Lewis. The vision of the Smart Operations 21 Office is to bring about a culture of transformation and Continuous Process Improvement. Now both the IDEA Program and the Productivity Enhancing Capital Investment Program are in the Smart Ops Office. Rapid Improvement Events are designed to eliminate waste and improve policies, processes and programs at all levels of the command chain. They facilitate process improvements that reduce cycle times for the purpose of getting things done more quickly and with less waste. Some of the solutions that are suggested through a RIE can qualify as an IDEA or PECI project. You can use these two programs as financial avenues to be rewarded for your solution and/or fund them. Many submitters will testify that it really does "pay" to share their good ideas with the IDEA Program, as $10,000 awards are processed on a regular basis throughout the Air Force. While a $10,000 award is the maximum you can be awarded for any idea, every approved idea receives at least $200. Another innovation avenue available to Pope personnel is the Pope Innovation Center. The center, located at Building 285, downstairs from the Airman Leadership School, provides a one-stop-shop for the IDEA and PECI programs. It also provides an avenue for informal suggestions to be submitted and evaluated very quickly over e-mail. You can contact the Innovation Center through our 24-hour hotline, 394-IDEA, or the Pope Good Ideas mailbox, goodideas@pope.af.mil. Pope needs your ideas. You may submit directly to the IDEA Program at https://ipds.mont.disa.mil/IPDS/dv_new_home_page , or through the Innovation Center. Either way, you can help shape the future. For any questions about the IDEA Program please contact Lt. Jamie Kelley at 394-2818 or Tech. Sgt. Phillip Godfrey at 394-2225. (Courtesy of the 43rd Airlift Wing Smart Operations office)
