Pope Stars get a chance to shine Published Sept. 22, 2006 By Amanda Shaffer Pope Youth Center Program Coordinator POPE AFB, N.C. -- "The family that gets up on stage together, stays together." Isn't that how the old cliché goes? If not, it should as Pope Family Member Programs hosts the 2006 Family & Teen Talent Contest. On Sept. 30, the Youth and Community Centers invite moms, dads, brothers, and sisters to sing, dance, and perform together in the family-oriented event. Contestants can enter in one of 11 categories: parent and child team; husband and wife team; children (ages 3-5); children (ages 6-8); preteen solo (ages 9-12); preteen group (ages 9-12); teen solo (ages 13-15); teen group (ages 13-15); teen solo (ages 16-18); teen group (ages 16-18); and family. The performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Base Theater, and admission is free. VHS tapes or DVDs of base winners will be submitted for an Air Force-level contest. "We invite everyone to enjoy an evening of entertainment while cheering for their co-workers and neighbors," said Angel Davis, Community Center Manager. Those interested can call the Youth Center at 394-1045 for more information.
