AMC survey comes to town Published July 27, 2006 By Senior Airman Cassandra Locke Staff writer POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The change readiness/ team effectiveness group from Air Mobility Command came here to get the base's feel on how Pope was performing. Base personnel met in the Base Realignment and Closure conference room Monday through Thursday to fill out surveys and discuss their concerns. When discussing the base's awareness of Air Force Smart Operations 21 the responses included a concern for the base's resources to support this as well as the personnel available to help implement this training. Also, concerns included the culture change that would be involved with AFSO21. One base member's concern was that if this plan was to work, everyone would need to be on board with AFSO21. When discussing the base's concern as a whole the main highlights were the impact of BRAC, force shaping (primarily among company grade officers) and the communication involved. An Airman addressed the morale of the base considering it's transitioning objectives. Another Airman addressed the concern of there being more tasks to the mission, but less people to fulfill the tasks. The groups discussed what people here do well. Those things included adapting to change, conducting the mission and deploying. Some of the things that were discussed that Pope can improve on is taking care of spouses, pets, planning better and redeploying. Leadership and Airmen all participated in the survey so AMC can see how everyone feels about how Pope is doing as a base. All AMC bases participating in the survey.
