Flooding impacts Pope Airmen, operations
POPE FIELD, N.C. -- A C-17 Globemaster III from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, sits on Green Ramp here early Sept. 29 during a storm which dumped more than nine inches of rain on the base in two days, resulting in flooding and washed out roads around the installation. Crews from McChord and other Air Mobility Command bases rode out the storm while waiting to resume operations during Large Package Week, a quarterly exercise which provides vital airlift training for Air Force crews from Pope and AMC bases nationwide, and for Fort Bragg Army paratroopers and support units.
