Working over the holidays
Staff Sgt. Robert Horton, 43rd SFS checks the identification of a servicemember gaining access to Pope Dec. 31 at the Reilly Road gate.
“I think the holiday season is the most important holiday to work, people tend to let their guards down during the holidays and I like being a guardian of their safety and security,” said Sergeant Horton. “My job is 24/7 and keep my guard up and eyes open making sure everyone is being safe.”
Sergeant Horton worked a 12-hour shift, from 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve to 6 a.m. New Year’s Day and was working an abbreviated holiday schedule of six days on and six days off.
“I am from Fayetteville and was able to spend the Christmas holiday with my family,” said Sergeant Horton. “I really enjoyed being stationed at Pope and am glad I got to spend the holiday’s with my family.”
