Pope AAF officer receives prestigious Tuskegee Airmen award
Continuing a tradition of excellence, Lt. Col. Joel Banjo-Johnson, 43rd Air Mobility Operations Group, was awarded the General Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. Military Award August 17, 2024. Banjo-Johnson, who is the commander of the 43rd Force Support Squadron at Pope Army Airfield, received the award during the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. 2024 National Convention and Annual Business Meeting, which was held in Washington. The prestigious award is given to a field grade officer who has exhibited outstanding performance in both performance and community service. Banjo-Johnson said it is a profound honor and privilege to be recognized by Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. “We all carry forward the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, who demonstrated that our nation is strong when everyone has the chance to serve and contribute,” said Banjo-Johnson.
