Coining Pope’s Finest: Each week Col. James Johnson, 43rd Airlift Wing Commander, highlights an outstanding Airman

POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. --  Col. James Johnson, 43rd Airlift Wing Commander, presented his Commander's Coin to Master Sgt. Eric Bezue, 43rd AW, for his exceptional performance beyond the call of duty. 

Sergeant Bezue is the Superintendent of Wing Protocol office and provides guidance on procedures and etiquette to Team Pope. He coordinates visits, changes of command, retirements and numerous other ceremonies. 

Sergeant Bezue's exemplary job performance has been highlighted during several recent events, including visits from First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force and the 18th Air Force Commander. In addition to coordinating every aspect of these official visits, Sergeant Bezue consistently provides a professional image of Pope to these world leaders. 

Sergeant Bezue is also well known as the "go-to" consultant for the 43rd AW on issues ranging from ceremonial standards and procedures to proper seating and scripts for special events. When Team Pope looks good, it is likely that Sergeant Bezue's hard work and dedication is involved. 

Off duty, Sergeant Bezue is involved with many activities of the Manna Church in Fayetteville. He said, "attending church is a great way to relax after a hard week in Protocol." Sergeant Bezue enjoys playing and watching a variety of sports. He is also a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. 

After deploying this fall, he plans to complete his current enlistment and retire after 24 years of active duty service. Sergeant Bezue intends to complete his college degree and drastically increase his leisure time after retiring.
