Each week the 43rd Airlift Wing highlights an outstanding Airman

On July 21, Col. Craig Berlette, 43rd Airlift Wing Vice Commander, presented a Commander's Coin to Tech. Sgt. Leida Pedro, 43rd Mission Support Group, on behalf of Col. James Johnson, 43rd Airlift Wing Commander. Sergeant Pedro was recognized for her exceptional performance beyond the call of duty.

Sergeant Pedro is the NCO-In-Charge of the 43rd MSG, and serves as Group Knowledge Operations Manager, where she provides administrative and technical support to six squadrons. She also serves as the group functional for 12 knowledge operators assigned to five squadrons to ensure training and career progression requirements are met.

Sergeant Pedro serves as president of the Pope Rising Six. As president, she ensures the organization fulfills its purpose to enhance and maintain the camaraderie, esprit de corps and prestige of the Airmen and Non Commissioned Officers while promoting a spirit of unity and honor among all enlisted personnel.

Since joining the Air Force in 1995, Sergeant Pedro had previous assignments in Turkey, Germany and Texas before arriving at Pope in June 2007. She works daily to achieve her goal of increasing attendance in the Pope Rising Six.

Off duty, Sergeant Pedro enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her husband, Tech. Sgt. Donald Pedro, 43rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, and their two children. She hopes to someday complete her master's in business administration and become a business owner
