The American Society of Military Comptrollers recently selected a new Executive Director. Alvin Tucker replaces the Honorable Robert Hale, who was recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller/Chief Financial Officer).

Mr. Tucker is well known throughout the Department of Defense financial community. He has extensive experience in Defense accounting, audit and budget and has demonstrated a strong commitment to our professional goals.

Mr. Tucker took time out of his busy schedule to stop by Pope and Fort Bragg to meet with more than 60 members of the local ASMC Chapter, the Sand Hills Chapter, during their monthly member luncheon April 21 at the Pope Club.

The focus of his visit was to reaffirm his dedication of what ASMC provides to Comptroller personnel across the DoD.

"The services have the responsibility of recruiting, training, equipping and deploying our military, civilian and contractor employees," he said. "We in ASMC help to further develop our financial professionals."

Mr. Tucker also discussed the importance of certifications to our profession as a way of setting us apart as true financial professionals. In particular, completion of the Certified Defense Financial Management certification program which is offered by ASMC.

Mr. Tucker stated, "Times are changing and certification will be even more important."
Each year ASMC sponsors a weeklong event of Professional Development for its members.

This year's event will be held in San Antonio May 26 through 29. It is an excellent opportunity for Comptroller personnel across the services to gain very useful insight and updates to our ever-changing financial environment.
