Wingman of the Week Published Dec. 8, 2006 By Kelly Twedell Staff writer POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Senior Airman William Cotten, 43rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron Job description: I'm a radio operator in the 43rd AES. Date entered military: I left the promised land (Mobile, Ala.) and enlisted in the Air Force April 22, 2003. Reason entered military: I decided to join the military to get out and see the world. I also joined for the experience and new skills that I would learn. Most influential in career: My wife Kimberly who was also enlisted in the Air Force. We met at Ellsworth AFB, S.D., and got married. After she separated from the Air Force, my orders were for Pope, her hometown. Short-term goals: To make staff sergeant, start attending school at Fayetteville Technical Community College and receive my degree in architectural technology. Long-term goals: To finish up my enlistment and find a nice place to move near a beach with my wife and my beautiful 6-month-old daughter, Aubrey. What is the best thing about Pope, and why: The dedication towards (physical training). I enjoy working out and trying my best to stay as fit as possible. Thanks to Pope being so dedicated to its PT program, I have time to do that now. If there was one thing you could change about Pope, what would it be, and why: I would want it to be closer to Myrtle Beach and maybe a little less rain. Other than that, I'm happy with the way things are.
