Seeking Members for Arts Activities Published Dec. 7, 2006 By Amanda Shaffer Pope Youth Center POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Are you known for your ability to draw attention in a crowd? Do you enjoy singing, dancing, or pretending that you're someone else? If so, the Pope Youth and Teen Center has just the activity for you. The Youth Center is getting their Drama Club off of the ground, and needs new members. We're looking for a crew of 10 or 15 people between the ages of nine and eighteen who are interested in all aspects of bringing a play to life. We have a costume library, props, set materials, and a script. Now we need the costume and set designers, actors, actresses, and make-up artists. The club meets at 5 p.m. every Thursday evening at the Youth Center, building 1525, located at 51 Skytrain Drive. Additionally, the Youth Center is currently accepting two-dimensional artwork from all mediums to enter in their annual Fine Arts Exhibition and Contest. Contestants must be between the ages of 6 and 18, and may enter up to three pieces in any of the following categories: monochromatic (one-color) drawing; multi-colored drawing, pastel, watercolor, oil or acrylic painting, print making, mixed media, collage, or sculpture (if entering the sculpture contest, a photographic representation of the sculpture must be submitted). Artwork may not exceed the size of 30 inches by 40 inches. The deadline for submission is Dec. 8. For more information on the Drama club or Fine Arts Exhibition, please call 394-1045.
