Commander's Helpline: Privatized Housing Published Dec. 7, 2006 POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Q: I heard a rumor that next summer when Pope housing is privatized, we are all going to be forced out of our homes. Is this true? A: First and foremost, that rumor is untrue. As part of BRAC actions, base housing will be privatized under the Fort Bragg contractor Picerne, which should take effect on or about March 1, 2007. While the details of the transfer are still being ironed out by my civil engineer and legal experts, families who are already living on Pope will not move. In fact, everyone already living on Pope will remain in place until their normal PCS move occurs. Once we get the details finalized, we'll be sure to brief the specifics during the next Town Hall meeting, in base paper articles and other means of spreading the word.
