PESA to hold fall bazaar Published Sept. 15, 2006 By Kristi Senger Pope Enlisted Spouse Association POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The Pope Enlisted Spouses Association will present the Fall Bazaar Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The show, featuring more than 70 craft and vendor booths, is being held at Albritton Junior High on Fort Bragg. This year's show brings in dealers from all over North Carolina, offering a wide selection of handmade crafts and specialty items. Almost anything can be found, from wooden items like benches and shelves to hand-painted clay pots, folk art, wreaths and quilted teddy bears. Other unique items available at the show include a selection of purses made out of juice containers. Pope spouse Jennelle Easter takes Capri sun, Kool Aid, and other juice pouch drink packages to a whole new level. She takes the empty juice pouches and turns them into one-of-a-kind purses and wallets. Easter originally made the purses for her daughters; after many people asked where she got them she decided to go into business. She says she believes that recycling the juice pouches gives back to the environment. "This will be my first event selling them," Ms. Easter said. "I have all my friends, neighbors, teachers, and even a daycare saving their juice pouches for me, so I have enough to make the purses." Marcia Braid, Fayetteville resident and a retired military spouse, will be debuting a few new items at the bazaar. Ms. Braid, who is a stained glass designer, is offering wedding and birth announcement glass hearts with the names and dates etched on them. Ms. Braid will also be offering military related items. Another vendor, Operation House ID of Raleigh, will be offering personalized address signs with a vintage wrought iron look. There are also booths that feature custom military related crafts, including signs that feature the names of bases where you have been stationed. The craft show also provides food concessions, including the Pope first sergeants cook-out booth, and a bake sale, offering homemade goodies baked by the Pope Elementary Parent Teacher Organization. Proceeds from the bazaar will go back into the Pope community. There will also be a raffle with monies going to the Pope Scholarship Fund. "We are very excited about the interest in the Fall Bazaar, Stacy Fox," PESA second vice president, said. "The number of vendors keeps growing. We expect the event to be an enjoyable day for everyone." The Fall Bazaar offers free admittance to everyone, and the general public is invited. Albritton Junior High is located on the corner of Normandy and All American on Fort Bragg.
