Airmen get Articles 15

  • Published
The following is a summary of nonjudicial punishments given by Pope AFB commanders under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice in July.
Punishments are determined after careful consideration of the individual facts and circumstances of each case.

A suspended punishment occurs when a commander delays imposing all or any portion of a punishment. A suspended punishment provides both an observation period and an incentive for good behavior as the suspended punishment can be imposed at a later date if the Airman's misconduct continues. A reprimand is a written statement describing what the member did wrong and what will happen if future misconduct persists.

A senior airman from the 3rd Aerial Port Squadron received an Article 15 for making a false official statement to a senior noncommissioned officer. The punishment was a suspended reduction to airman first class and a reprimand.

An Airman from the 14th Air Support Operations Squadron received an Article 15 for underage drinking. The punishment was a reduction to the grade of airman basic, seven days extra duty and a reprimand.

An airman first class from the 43rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received an Article 15 for wrongful use of marijuana. The punishment was a reduction to the grade of Airman, forfeiture of $713 and a reprimand.

An airman first class from the 43rd Logistics Readiness Squadron received an Article 15 for failing to go to unit physical training, failing to go to his appointed place of duty, and failing to notify the appropriate personnel after changing shifts with a fellow co-worker. The punishment was a suspended reduction to the grade of Airman and 15 days extra duty.
